The story behind our new name

Originally known as Morrison Trust, we were established in 1995. For over 25 years, we’ve supported the residents of Darlington and the Tees Valley area with training, developing new skills and providing pathways to employment.

Due to the changing landscape, we felt 2023 was the time to update our name and refresh our branding. Our new look and personality now aligns better with who we are. The name ‘Tandem’ means to ‘work alongside each other’ which is exactly what we do as an organisation – we’ll work with you to help you get the outcome you want.

Our name also allows us to showcase both sides of our business – our employment services, and our conference centre and meeting room hire. The two work in unison.

We’re for people, not profit.

As a not-for-profit, any money we make from hiring out our conference centre and meeting rooms is invested back into our employment services. This means local businesses are contributing to a worthwhile charity that helps those on their very doorstep to develop valuable skills and find a job. The best bit? This then creates a ripple effect because when these people find a job in the community, it helps the local economy. It’s a win-win for everyone.
